LightWaterLife Global Relief partners with FREE2CARE to deliver life-saving aid to families in post-disaster situations

NEWS RELEASE – For immediate release 09/23/2020

In 2018, a YouGov study revealed the state of preparedness of Americans for natural disasters. The results indicate that while three-quarters of Americans say they are worried about such events, many of them also say they aren’t adequately prepared for these calamities. Even though 41 percent of people say they are not prepared for a natural disaster, 61 percent stated they do not even have an emergency kit.

FREE2CARE, a coalition of physician and patient organizations, and LightWaterLife Global Relief, a nonprofit delivering direct life-saving aid to American families in post-disaster situations, are partnering to ensure that families receive important disaster relief supplies in their time of need. The 60-day fundraising campaign entitled Humanitarian Aid Initiative 2020 (HAI2020), which runs from September 15 to November 15, aims to raise awareness of the dire humanitarian situation that can exist during the natural disaster season – particularly the families who have have been displaced or lack the basics of life due to power outages and flooding – and to raise money for disaster relief kits to be distributed in these crisis-prone regions.

“Victims of natural disasters face great uncertainty, with many of them lacking adequate clean drinking water and power and struggling to meet their minimum daily needs. These realities become more unbearable as the recovery period takes longer and longer,” said LightWaterLife Global Relief board member David Urabe. “LightWaterLife Global Relief appreciates the support of FREE2CARE in this year’s Humanitarian Aid Initiative 2020 campaign to help ensure that no one is left without the basics of life.”

“We are excited to be a part of an amazing initiative to help disaster-stricken families in the U.S.,” emphasized David Balat, the founder of Free2Care. “Year after year, we see families stranded without power and water in their own homes due to flood, hurricane, or tornadoes. LightWaterLife can empower many families with the necessities to survive until help arrives. We hope to see our coalition rally together and donate kits to this initiative so that we can be direct disaster relief for families in need.”

Balat shared, “My family was huddled in the attic of our home during a hurricane and flood. To be able to drink the water around us and to have sustainable light and power for our phones would have been a huge benefit for us. These disaster relief kits can really help a family not to panic and survive.”

Donations to the campaign, which can be made at www.lwlglobalrelief.org/free2care, will directly support the organization’s humanitarian aid efforts, including disaster relief kits containing 5-7 hour solar light/power device, a 4-gallon clean water filtration system, 300-piece first aid kit, and a handheld solar and crank-powered pocket-sized AM/FM & NOAA weather radio. LightWaterLife Global Relief also invites supporters and partners to join the campaign by promoting Humanitarian Aid Initiative 2020 on their social media networks and websites.
